I was definitely looking forward to my amazingly wonderful friends Birthday party. She was celebrating her 30th year of kicking life's ass and taking names. Strong in the knowledge this was going to be a great shindig (i.e. she was going to be there and that's all I needed), I planned ahead to stay the evening and finally imbibe some delicious craft beers. I bought a bunch of different ones to try, mostly Imperial Stouts or dessert Porters. The gods smiled down upon me and gifted some truly great brews.
The standout of the evening was easily Epic Brewing Company's 825 State Stout: "This stout can range from dry to sweet, creamy or bitter. Flavors Epic explores within this stout are roast chocolate, toffee, mocha, coffee, burnt marshmallow and roasted nuts or combinations there-of." -Source. I am sad and disappointed to say that I did not get the release number. It was so smooth I could of wept.
It still doesn't come close to my favorite which is Port Brewing Company's Old Viscosity, "An enormously rich and satisfying beer, Old Viscosity begins with a malty nose with caramel and chocolate overtones. An incredibly rich beer with substantial malty notes, Old Viscosity finishes with a dry, sweet Dark Chocolate bitterness." -Source
Now that the beers have been slightly discussed I would just like to point out that when blogging about my life I don't like to use others names. I'd hate to make them uncomfortable. It makes it difficult to tell a story when it seems like every event just happens in my head. If you read this, know me, and approve of the sharing of your name, feel free to leave a comment below!
The event was a smashing success of friends coming together to shoot the shit, drink the most delicious of brews, and gaming like some fiends! Games include: Cards Against Humanity, Mafia, Werewolf, and Code Names.
